Natural gas, the harmless fossil fuel

heatingoilBecause of the many challenges posed by global warming, the natural gas distributions face an uncertain future.  Joy Copan, the senior vice president of corporate affairs for the

American gas association says that the nation’s weather has been warmed since the past decade.

If warming of weather continues, the demand for gas heating could reduce.  Since the awareness of climate being spread, users definitely prefer natural gas to fossil fuels such as coal.  Copan says that gas is the harmless fossil fuel, so the opportunities for gas utilities would increase in future.

The new electric power plants depend on natural gas for fuel.  This becomes a major payday for gas distributors.  Almost one third of gas in U.S is used by the power plants. Mark Snell, the CFO of sampras energy says that natural gas should be encouraged for marketing as a fuel.  He said that people require energy when the sun does not shine and when the wind does not blow.  The cleanest way to achieve back the supply is through the natural gas.  He considers gas a plentiful fuel in the future. He also says that in the present situation it is very difficult to get a license for nuclear plants, considering the problem of disposal of nuclear wastes.

Since it takes time to think the energy solutions, in the coming two decades, gas serves as an alternative fuel.  Lillio said that they have been encouraging domestic sources for the generation of solar and wind energy.  So, it is required to drill for natural gas in United States.

The gas distributors are waiting for government’s permission for offshore drilling along the coastlines of Florida and California.  He also says that the consumer awareness about energy efficiency has started reduction the gas utility.  The home builders have become more conscious regarding energy efficient designs.  This would reduce the gas usage a lot.

Copan says that since there is no alternative for the fuels of energy plants for next decade, measures are to be taken to increase the natural gas supply.
